About ZIX
Zimbabwe Insights Exchange aggregates the country's economic, trade and investment data and presents it with visible method, consistent sourcing and an analytical voice that does not oscillate between boosterism and doom.
Why this exists
Data about Zimbabwe’s economy often fails to persuade not because the underlying numbers are wrong, but because the packaging is promotional. Accurate figures become suspect by association with the framing around them.
ZIX’s structural advantage is editorial distance. It sources from government, the IMF, the World Bank, CZI, ZIMSTAT, the RBZ and private-sector reporting, and presents all of it with visible methodology and consistent sourcing. Every page is built to reinforce that distance rather than to persuade.
The platform is written for a reader who has seen inflated claims before and is looking for the source that does not make them. That means naming the risks official communications omit, showing the gaps in the data rather than papering over them, and publishing both readings where credible sources disagree.
Independence statement
- 01
ZIX is editorially independent of every institution whose data it publishes. No source, sponsor or subscriber sees content before publication.
- 02
No government body, political party or state-owned enterprise has any ownership interest in, or editorial input to, the platform.
- 03
Commissioning research from ZIX does not confer influence over the platform's published data or analysis, and commissioned work is not published as editorial.
- 04
Where ZIX has a commercial relationship with an entity that appears in an item, the relationship is disclosed on that item.
- 05
Contributors declare interests relevant to what they write about, and those declarations are published alongside their work.
How ZIX is funded
Disclosed rather than implied. A platform asking readers to trust its independence has to say who pays for it.
| Stream | Contribution | Terms |
|---|---|---|
| Free newsletter | No revenue | The primary distribution and trust-building channel. Free, no sponsored placements inside editorial items. |
| Premium briefings and custom research | Planned majority of revenue | Quarterly sector reports and commissioned due-diligence support, sold to institutional subscribers. Commissioning a report never buys influence over the platform's published data or analysis. |
| Data licensing | Planned, once history is sufficient | API access to the dashboard series for institutional users. Priced access to data ZIX has compiled, not to editorial treatment of it. |
| Sponsorship | Restricted | Where accepted, sponsors are disclosed by name on the item they support, and have no sight of content before publication. Sponsorship is never accepted from a party that is the subject of the item. |
