Advisory board

A named board of economists and sector specialists, mixing Zimbabwean and international credibility. Members review method; they do not approve individual items.

Board composition

  • Macroeconomics

Monetary and fiscal policy, currency regimes, debt sustainability. Reviews the treatment of macro series and the framing of policy analysis.

Profile sought: An economist with published work on dollarisation or currency substitution, ideally with both Zimbabwean and comparative experience.

  • Statistics and measurement

Survey design, index methodology, the treatment of breaks in series. Reviews the methodology page and adjudicates how conflicting sources are handled.

Profile sought: A statistician with national accounts or price index experience, independent of the agencies whose output ZIX republishes.

  • Mining and resources

Production, beneficiation policy, commodity cycle exposure. Reviews sector deep-dives on mining.

Profile sought: A sector specialist with operating or analytical experience across Southern African resource projects.

  • Capital markets and investment

Deal structuring, capital flows, repatriation mechanics. Reviews opportunity briefs and the risk register.

Profile sought: A practitioner who has closed transactions in frontier markets, including at least one in Zimbabwe.

  • Industry

Manufacturing constraints, input costs, the informal economy. Reviews industry survey interpretation.

Profile sought: A senior operator or industry-body figure with visibility into firm-level conditions.

  • Regional and comparative

Places Zimbabwean data in a SADC and continental context so readings are not made in isolation.

Profile sought: An economist or analyst working across multiple African economies.

What the board does

Does

  • Review methodology and the treatment of contested series.
  • Challenge framing that drifts toward promotion or alarm.
  • Flag where ZIX is publishing beyond what its data supports.
  • Advise on which series are worth the cost of sourcing.

Does not

  • Approve or veto individual items before publication.
  • Direct editorial coverage or commission pieces.
  • Represent ZIX publicly, or lend affiliation to conclusions they did not write.
  • Receive advance sight of analysis affecting their sector.
